Status Report #1

This week has mostly been about getting settled into school and starting this very blog. With just a few more things on my task list, I'll have TriGrid done by next week (tops!)

Master Plans

I have big plans for the next few years and now that I have a ball it's time I get it rolling. I have very clear goals to accomplish. I want to be an indie developer. I want to make enough money to cover my next few tuition bills. I want to start making my dream RPG next year. I want to finish said RPG by 2016. I want to start an LLC with a select few teammates. I want to have fun making great games with friends. Then, I want to help other people do the same. This is an overview on how I'm going to do it.

Making TriGrid - Part 2

TriGrid is just weeks away from release and it's gameplay has been polished all summer. After getting relatives to playtest the game I had to make the game easier t play and understand. I also had to make players care and want to keep playing. I also needed a way to boost it's popularity so people can find it on the app store. How do I make money from a free app? That PlayStation 4 isn't going to buy itself. Read on to see how the project turned out.

Making TriGrid - Part 1

With my first game released and my second on it's way, I think it'd be a good idea to give it an introduction. TriGrid is an arcade style action puzzle game featuring exploding triangles and a "Pew" button. Let that sink in for about four seconds, then read on after the break.

Loving What You Do

It’s depressing that most people go through life hating their jobs. Your job shouldn't be a grind to go through in order to live, it should be a project, an activity. Something that you would do for fun with money as a consequence.

What is Yotes Games?

Hey, I'm Tony, but you can call me Yotes.

I love making games. So much in fact I want to make a career out of it. The problem with that though is how I can’t make the kind of games I’d like to yet. I’m just not on that level. So I started a blog to chronicle the things I go through to get to that level.

Details after the break.

Let the Yotes Games Begin!

Today marks the launch of Yotes Games, my little experiment in game development.
Here I'm going to chronicle all the things that go on as I create video games. I know it'll be humble beginnings until I get more experience this, and just like with making games, with practice I'll get better.

This site will start to feel like home as I continue to add content and provide readers like you with insight into one of the most humble of indie game development studios: me, a college kid making mobile apps to get a grasp on game creation in order to make his dream game a reality.

Watch me as I go from young hopeful to a great game designer, or watch as my ambitious dreams burst into flames (I really hope it's the first one).
