First New Build of BGP in Over 2 Years!


Available to the patrons out there keeping development going for so long. We're opening the curtains a bit and letting some of you inside to get a better look at what we're working on. this here is the very beginning of a very fun project.

Download the Battle Gem Ponies Combat Demo on Itch.io using your Patreon login to get a download key for Windows and/or Android. The old demo will still be available on the same page as before until the public Combat Demo release.

Babscon 2020 is Cancelled, but the Show MUST Go On!


Unfortunately, the Babscon Arcade Showcase won't be happening this year. But we're going to make the most of this and take some extra time to get an even more polished Battle Gem Ponies combat demo out to everyone over the convention season!

Unicorn Training Returns to Google Play!


     It was down for a long while, but I finally put my first RPG back up on the Google Play store for all to see! Unicorn Training is the top-down shooter adventure I made after a series of practice games to train me up to becoming a developer capable of making the huge games I see in my head.

Battle Gem Ponies DevLog #167 (Orlando Overdrive 2018)


     Showcasing the game to new folks, meeting other developers, learning from their experiences, making friends, and dancing my legs off. That's the TL;DR of my Orlando Overdrive experience this past weekend. 

     Battle Gem Ponies had a booth right in the middle of the indie game hallway leading to the bar & dance floor of The Geek Easy. Turns out the whole brony thing wasn't a passing fad, and lots of people still smile when they see marshmallow horses with super powers.

Battle Gem Ponies DevLog #160 (Big Changes Worth the Wait)


     Improvements to Battle Gem Ponies workflow are showing some promising results and I'm looking forward to showing off a very impressive demo in March. For now I'm slowly getting used to the new tools I'm using and figuring out the most efficient ways to bring all these ponies (and everything they can do) to life.

     Each passing day I want to see the alpha build exist more and MORE but new things just keep slowing progress down. Game development really does take forever and the small things are always big things in disguise.

Battle Gem Ponies Demo Update! (Ver. 6.8)

     The latest version of Battle Gem Ponies has arrived! This update features randomized wild encounters, 6 new ponies, and the ability to ride on some of them. Other features have been tinkered with but are incomplete for the most part. Update 7.0 will have to be the feature-complete tech-demo of the game, bug-checked and released by the end of April.

     Looks like Steam Greenlight will be shutting down permanently any day now, so this may be the last chance for the game to get through. So, if you'd like to see this game on Steam someday, be sure to give a thumbs up on the Greenlight page!

     Time for round two! Battle Gem Ponies is back and better than ever thanks to feedback from the Steam Greenlight community! The turn-based pony RPG now features much more original looking characters, various new environment sprites, and some renamed moves and characters.

Battle Gem Ponies: Bonus Demo Release! (Version 5.5)


     Due to recent life events and the upcoming Pokemon Sun & Moon, Battle Gem Ponies is surely going to be facing delays. In the meantime, enjoy the current build of the game. Now updated with bug/crash fixes, improved battle calculations, and more polished battle animations.

     This is no Demo 6 (which is still set to come by the end of the month) but it's something to keep everypony distracted until we can all get our hooves on the new Pokemon games, right?


     Version 6 will include Pony Capture mechanics, Move Customization via collectible Move Tutor items, and the ability to interact with your pony in the overworld!

Now for Something Different... (The Fun Stuff!)


     I'm cracking open some old strategy guides and analyzing some of the design decisions of the old Pokemon games in order to get in the proper frame of mind to design my own world map tile by tile. After this I'm going to finally start making sprites for every single pony so I can see what they look like (and maybe show a few to you guys to keep you entertained).

     I'm excited to finally be doing something without code. And I get to lay down on my bed for this part! A very nice change of pace and a reward for getting over the Demo 5 hurdle. I'll consider Demo 5 a success if I can get 3,000 people to download it. And to help boost that number along, I uploaded version 5.2 last night to get rid of some nasty bugs I saw popping up.

Download: Battle Gem Ponies Demo 5.1 (FillyCon Build)


     Get your hooves on the newest version of the Pokemon inspired game about bejeweled horse altercations today! Battle Gem Ponies available for Android, PC, Mac, and now Linux platforms!

     This game works with touchscreens, mice/keyboard setups, and gamepads alike (and if not, tell me in the Bug Report Forums). Next update (6.0) will feature tons of little touches and activities to do in the overworld as well as a bunch of new ponies to battle with and capture. Download: Battle Gem Ponies Demo 5 (BronyCon Build)


     The BronyCon panel is happening today and to celebrate, the newest version is now available for Android, PC, and Mac platforms! The panel attendees will get to see a live demonstration, but those of you at home get to enjoy some pony gaming fun today too!

     This game should be gamepad friendly (and if not, tell me in the Bug Report forums). Next update will feature tons of little touches and activities to do in the overworld as well as a bunch of new ponies to battle with and capture. Battle Gem Ponies DevLog #70 (PCT Game Jam Spring 2016)


     I made a Game Jam title this weekend about a mermaid with a monster mouth that eats smaller fish. And yes, the text in the logo is a mashup of Hungry Howie's, The Little Mermaid, and Viral Hunger. The theme was Murphy's Law: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

     I woke up that morning with the vision of some kind of game involving mermaids and Fish Feaster with Shantae style graphics. I managed to make that random dream fit with the theme by adding elements of escalating difficulty and humor.

Download Battle Gem Ponies -- [ Pre-Alpha V4!!!! ] --


     The latest Battle Gem Ponies demo is available to download just in time for Easter weekend! This demo introduces party management, bug fixes, battle polish, sweet music tracks, a pony follower, and some new artwork! Explore the town, cave, and island areas or battle against random computer opponents right from the main menu!


It's a simple RPG with a ton of features on the way. I aim to release the next demo in April.



     Most of the work this time around was behind the scenes stuff that won't be revealed for a while, but design-wise, the game is more thought out now and on a much more reasonable development schedule. The next demo will be the post-BYOC build and is set to have working multiplayer, tons of polish, and pony customization.

Download Battle Gem Ponies Pre-Alpha V3 (Merry Christmas!!)


     Yotes Games is here to deliver a special Christmas present to the world. The latest Battle Gem Ponies demo is finally available to download! This demo includes a lot of bugs and placeholder art, so you can expect a lot of things to improve in the next version.

     Play in the new overworld and explore Pinto Island, battle wild ponies, fight other trainers, and talk to the friendly townsfolk of this vibrant world! You can even simply play endless random battles against the computer from the glimmering title screen.


     It's a simple game with a ton of features on the way. Feel free to leave your feedback in the comments and let me know if you like what you see so far. Getting to each milestone like this does wonders for morale and I really want to know what you all think so I can steer the project in the right direction. I aim to release the next demo in early March.

Bored to DEATH ( @PCTGameJam Fall 2015 )

The theme was "Uninteresting Jobs"
So I made a game about watching paint dry.

     Bored to DEATH is a two-button game about goofing off while your boss isn't looking. It was made in Unity for my school's 12 Hour Game Jam where the theme was "Uninteresting Jobs". The iconic boring office job came to mind. I even replaced the computer with a wet painting you have to watch dry out just to drive the point home.

     You can use Left and Right mouse clicks to alternate between goofing off and working. If you work too much you will literally die of boredom and if your boss catches you dancing around, you'll be fired and die on the spot. A happiness meter displays how close you are to dying and you can see when your boss is approaching your cubicle. This is all done using crude animations and random art assets from across Google Images.

Battle Gem Ponies Pre-Alpha V2 Demo [Download]


      It's finally here. A version of Battle Gem Ponies.exe you can play! Have a blast with the 6 available ponies in simple randomized battles against the computer. This is the game at its earliest possible form so expect quality to skyrocket with each preview release over the next year.


     In the next update you can expect improved mechanics, bug fixes, special move functionality, customizable attacks, an overworld to explore, local multiplayer, and gamepad support. This version is PC exclusive but future demos may come to mobile, Linux, and Mac platforms.

     If you're new to BGP and plan on attending BronyCon 2015, be sure to check out the Battle Gem Ponies panel in the Hall of the Moon Sunday, August 9th from 1:45pm to 2:45pm.

Battle Gem Ponies DevLog #28 (Making Moves, Unicorn Training Launch Week)


     Well then. I certainly thought I could draw these things faster. Turns out I'll be spending over  half of this game's development time on the graphics alone. Unless I get this done I won't be able to hire an artist in the future, so I just need to keep at it. Unicorn Training's release was fun, but the numbers really need to be higher for me to have hope of living off this mad use of my free time.
